The Safari Centre between Los Cristianos and Las Americas at Playa Vista and the Del Duque Plaza at Playa del Duque are both well known for their designer boutiques, perfume shops and jewellery shops and when your feet can’t take any more there are plenty of bars and cafés in both shopping centres to relax and enjoy a delicious meal and refreshing drink.
The X-Sur shopping centre in Torviscas Alto opened in 2007 and has proved a big hit with both residents and tourists. Originally named the Gran Sur shopping centre it's not very big but it does have a good choice of shops over three floors with plenty of bars and restaurants serving a variety of international and local cuisine.
If you are self catering in this locality, you will find the Mercadona supermarket on the lower floor sells everything you need. The main attraction is a seven screen cinema on the upper floor, however, there is usually only one film per week shown with English language. There is ample car parking spaces and also a taxi rank.
Market days are Thursday and Saturday in Fañabe and Sunday in Los Cristianos. So if you are looking for a special souvenir to take home and you enjoy haggling for a bargain, don’t miss out.
Stall holders will tempt you with clothes, shoes, leather goods, handcrafted and handpainted ceramics, handcrafted table linen and wooden carvings to name but a few. If you get the opportunity, take a trip to the Sunday market in Santa Cruz.
The market stalls are well positioned along the road sides, up and down the streets which makes it easy to walk round and overcrowding isn’t a problem. Markets open around 10am and close around 2pm. There is a shopping excursion to Santa Cruz, which is definitely worth the trip.
